Hehe it was actually a planned trip. Planned it like 2 weeks before Valentines day, booked the hotel and also researched on food to makan. The last time I went to Penang was like 6months ago when I just started work!! Seriously, time flies like no ones business man.
I took Friday off work so that we could go up to Penang earlier. Dearie came to Ipoh on Thursday night and on Friday morning, we left for Penang :D

I did not sleep throughout the whole journey there okay!! See got improvement d right!! But we had a minor unfortunate event where I spilled the whole can of coke in his car, thus forcing us to stop at a rest house while darling cleaned up my mess and I went for a toilet break hehe :P And and it was our first time using the new Penang bridge!!!:D

We were starving like mad so the first thing we did once we crossed the Penang bridge was to head over to Pasar Air Itam for the famous Assam Laksa.
I've been to Penang multiple times over the past 2 years but never got about to trying this Laksa all becauses Hou KEPT INSISTING that the laksa here sucks like mad. He kept telling me that it was the worst laksa he'd eaten ever. So I never asked him to bring me here since he said that.
But this time I INSISTED that even if its bad, I want to try it for myself. Because I will never feel satisfied until I tried it myself to see whether its really that bad or not.
So yeah he finally brought me there.

I'm a freaking huge fan of Assam Laksa lo!!
Got cheated so many years by Hou. I wanted to EAT HIM ALIVE GRRRRRRRRR. Cheat me so long. Because of him, I never had the chance to go there!!!
Honestly the best Assam Laksa I've eaten. The one I always go to in Penang is at Joo Hooi, and now I will never go back there for my assam laksa. The taste is not even close ok!! This is so fking awesome okay!! The soup was so thick, full of the fish bits and just the right level of sourness and spicyness!!
Also ordered popiah which turned out to be good too!!!
Next stop was Bangkok Lane for their famous Mee Goreng.
And it turned out to be the BEST MEE GORENG I had in my life.
Wahaha I think this is the only mee goreng that I won't mind eating. I think their secret to this is their special sauce which they used to fry the mee. Don't know how to explain, just too gooood!!
After our tummies were full, we headed over to our hotel to check in. Stayed at Armenian Street Heritage Hotel. The same hotel I stayed last year when I came with my bunch of Monash friends. Chose this hotel again because the location is right in the middle of Georgetown, super near all the famous makan makan places, plus the price was reasonable and the room is nice and clean.
My first agenda after we checked in was to dye my hair!! Haha yeap purposely go to hotel to dye cause the they have a big mirror and big bathroom, unlike my small room in Ipoh, which has no space and no BIG mirror for me to look at myself.
While waiting for me, Hou went out to tapau the famous Penang Teochew Chendol for me!! It was just a walking distance from our hotel. Told you our hotel's location really very strategic lo!
Anyway, this is me after my hair dying process was completed!! Was satisfied with the end results hehe.
Hou came back and it was camwhoring session hehehehe.
Anyway I was sooo full and we were rushing out that I only took a few sips of the chendol that he purposely walked out to tapao for me.
Felt so guilty! So sorry dear!! :(

I'm totally a sunset person. Just love to see how the colors in the sky changes as the sun sets. My favorite would be the ending, when the whole sky turns purplish pinkish.. So prettty awwwww.... :)
We left the hotel at 6.20pm and I thought we would have enough time to reach Ferringhi by 7.15pm. But we were wrong!!! Totally underestimated the jam in Penang.
Omg the jam was seriously HELL!! Worse than KL lo because at least KL roads are wider. Penang roads are so narrow and theres so many cars. Totally not moving at all. Seriously T.T
I kept asking Hou to drive faster because I didnt want to miss the sunset, but uh huh after awhile, I just gave up because no point rushing when we know we wont be able to make it, according to waze. T.T
Haha I seriously gave up hope d. I thought by the time we reached, it would be dark already. But lucky us, we managed to watch the ending a little bit. However the sky was cloudy that day so all we had was cloudy sunset.
Oh well, at least I managed to come back to my favorite place to watch the sunset.
The name of this place is Bora Bora. Seriously SO IN LOVE WITH THAT PLACE. Its near all the happening area, before reaching Hard Rock Hotel.
Maybe not everyone will like it, but because I'm a very 'beach' person, anything to do with beaches and sand and sea and waves, I will absolutely love!!!
Loved that place SO SO MUCH that I made Hou bring me back again the following night hehehe.

While we were sitting there, enjoying the view, we realized two girls walking from table to table selling stalks of roses as it was the day before valentines. When they finally came to our table, Hou immediately bought one stalk from them.
Walao the price was seriously absurd !! But before I could say anything, he took out his wallet and paid already haha.
I was saying, 'actually dont need to waste money buy for me one lor. I also never say I want'.
And he said 'wah we were the center of attention leh. Everyone looking at us. Dont buy very malu leh. You very lucky I didn't ask her to take out all the remaining roses in her bag and buy it all d haha'
Stupid ego guy haha.

*Having my super cold drink, watching the sunset, burying my feet deep in the sand, listening to the waves, feeling the sea breeze blowing at my face. Seriously I could do this all day long man. It was just so relaxing and comfortable I could fall asleep right there.
Told hou if we are rich enough next time, we are so gonna buy a beach vacation home!!!

Food was not too bad too. But the thing that keeps me going back is the environment. Seriously damn chill la that place. I just hope I could stay there forever!!! :(
I discovered this restaurant the last time when I was here with the bunch of Monash friends. And since then, this is my favorite place in Penang ever!!

big restaurant, right beside the beach. They have 2 sitting areas. One
is the covered one inside, which is where the bar is, and the other is
right on the beach, where they will place all the chairs and tables on
the beach. Reminds me of Jimbaran Bay, Bali.
Anyhow, we just sat there and makan and chill for like 1.5 hours before we had to rush off to another place because we were both meeting our Penang friends separately. Hou dropped me at Straits Quay as I was gonna have some drinks with Chern, while he left back to Georgetown for some guys time with his own friend haha.
Had another drink at some Irish Bar..
2 drinks in a night. Haha actually I had 3 drinks in 2 nights.
Lol there goes my quota for the month d.
After that, Chern fetched me back to my hotel, and coincidentally, Hou also just arrived back, so we went out for supper.
Lol yeah we went ALL OUT during the 3 days 2 nights there :P There goes my diet plan. :(
Supper was Nasi Kandar Beratur. Ordered a plate to share which cost us rm11. So expensive!! Anyway it was so so only la. Not to say damn nice.
Called it a night after that and we went back to our hotel, played some games on my tablet before sleeping.
DAY 2
Next morning, we woke up early, early meaning 10.30am :P
Because our late is 2pm haha. Our main purpose was to have breakfast at Jalan Macalister.
This is the famous Char Kuey Kak @ Seow Fong Lye
Oh god it was so so so good that we ordered another plate right after we finished up the first plate which took less than 10 minutes haha.
And Chee Cheong Fun, which was okok ni la in my opinion.
Went to Gurney Plaza after that for some shopping then we headed back to our hotel. To wash up abit and rest a little.
Next stop was yamcha time at my favorite cafe in Penang, China House!! :D Super love all the cakes here la.
Always got difficulty making up my mind on which cake I wan to eat because their cake selection there is so huge and everything looks and sounds so delicious omgggg T.T If I have enough stomach space, I would definitely try each and every cake lor!!

Ordered one cake and a mocha to share because we were gonna be having a more awesome meal later for dinner. Didn't want our tummy to be too full hahaha.
Finally at 5pm, we left China House and headed off to our MOST FAVORITE CHAR KUEY TEOW IN PENANG. SERIOUSLY NOTHING BEATS THIS CKT. BEST OF THE BEST.
I would definitely drive all the way to Penang just to have this ok!!
I've mentioned it so so so so many times in my blog before about this uncle who sells CKT at Jalan Siam and I call him Uncle Siam haha.
Ordered 3 plates, 2 big one and 1 small one for the two of us.
And IT WAS THE BOMB. OMG seriously cant get enough of his CKT la.
Waited quite long for this and it was so worth the wait.!!!
We would have ordered 4 plates but we had other makan plans later on so we didn't want to go overboard hahaha.
Next plan was Oh Chien and Pei Pa Duck but uh huh it failed cause when we reached the place, we realized that the Oh Chien uncle recently retired wth :(( And the Pei Pa Duck, the minimum order was half a duck, which was impossible for me and hou to finish especially right after our CKT feast. So we left.
But that wasn't the end.
The next stop was the famous Tomyam Mee at Raja Uda.
This was situated at Mainland and so just to try this awesome noodles, we drove out of the island to the mainland, took us more than an hour with all the jam etc.
When we finally found the place, it was soooo packed!!! Placed our order and the wait began. Waited for close to an hour before our bowl of goodies finally arrived.
More liu than mee. Hahah us being greeedy.
The Verdict: FKING AWESOME. This is probably the most unique tomyam noodles I've ever tasted.
Cause at home, when my mum cooks tomyam noodles, its usually with tomyam paste and its spicy. But this soup, is sourish, and a little spicy. Don't know how to explain thats why I say its unique!! Love it super alot. Definitely worth the wait and the long drive :))
Drove back to Penang Island after our fulfilling meal and the next agenda was back to Batu Ferringhi, back to the same restaurant hehe.
And as usual we got stuck in a terrible jam outside Gurney Plaza for an hour. Blehhh so annoying the jam. Kesian Hou, cause he hates jam sooooo much but just cause I wanna go to Bora bora, he didn't make a noise. So in return, I entertained him in the car by annoying him as much as I could with my singing hahahah. So funny :P
Reached Bora bora at 10pm. The place was packed because it was a Saturday night and it was Vday. Hehe but lucky us we managed to grab a place at the beach area. Even though that table wasn't as strategic as the day before, but still, not complaining.

Sat there for like 3 hours, till it was 1 am. That place damn happening lo. Was reluctant to leave but I was working the next day so I needed more sleep. Lol
Bora bora, I will definitely be back!!!
On the way down, Hou came up with a random idea to eat Nasi Kandar again. But this time at a different outlet, which is also famous. Nasi Kandar Clear Line.
And because it was our last night, I said why not. Jom lor :P Hehe so ons la we both. :P
After we were done with supper, we headed back to the hotel and I really died on the bed till next morning.
Woke up at 11am and realized that the check out time was 11am. Haha so darling went down to the reception and asked for 12 noon check out which they allowed. So we hurried to wash up, get changed and to pack all our stuffs.
Checked out and our final stop is lunch before heading back to Ipoh.
Went searching for Ah Leng Char Kuey Teow and we ended up at the wrong place, which we thought was Ah Leng but it wasnt. And the worse part was, we already placed our order. Lol so we had no choice but to gobble up that plate before going to the real Ah Leng CKT.
Heard from people that this Ah Leng CKT is the closest one can get to the Uncle Siam CKT.
So we were dying to try it la!!
The Verdict: Totally fail. Not even close to Uncle Siam please. Will never go back to this!!Now I'm a loyal fan of Uncle Siam ONLY!!
After we were done with lunch, it was almost 1.30pm, and I was working at 5pm that day, so we decided to drive back down to Ipoh.
Used the old bridge back. Bye Penang, till next time :)
And I had my sleep in the car, to prepare myself for my shift later LOL.
Reached home at 3pm and I still had 1.5 hours to sleep. Woke up at 4.30pm and darling fetched me to work.
Hehe and so that concludes our 3 days 2 nights trip to Penang. It was definitely a good and memorable trip :))
